Lawn care in Brentwood, TN
Brentwood lawns tend to be big, decades old and shaded in places by trees that were there before the house. Keeping that much turf thick is mostly a matter of timing, and timing is what our rounds are built around.
What does a Brentwood lawn need through the year?
Most yards in the older subdivisions off Concord Road and Franklin Road are tall fescue, often with a strip of Bermuda along a sunny drive. Fescue stays green longer into winter and copes with the shade under oaks and maples. It also thins in a hot July, and it doesn’t spread sideways to fill the gaps it leaves.
So the year runs in two halves. Spring is about stopping crabgrass before it sprouts: rounds 1 and 2 carry pre-emergent, fertilizer and a post-emergent for broadleaf weeds already up. Fall is about putting back what summer took. On an acre of fescue, that second half shows. Every round, in order, is on our lawn care programs page.
Why fall aeration matters on Brentwood clay
Under the sod, Brentwood has the same tight clay as the rest of Williamson County, and years of mowing traffic pack it harder. Roots stay shallow. Rain runs off the slopes toward the Little Harpeth River instead of soaking in, and the thin spots grow a little every summer.
Core aeration pulls plugs out of that clay so air, water and fertilizer reach the roots, and seed dropped into the holes has somewhere to take hold. It’s round 9 of LawnWise Plus and Premier, done in the fall, when new grass doesn’t have to fight spring weeds for room. The aeration and overseeding page explains how it works.
Trees and shrubs on a large lot
Big lots mean a lot of landscape. Boxwoods, hollies and ornamental trees pick up scale, bagworms and leaf disease, and our seven-round tree and shrub care program opens with a horticultural or dormant oil that smothers eggs before they hatch. It’s feeding and protection only; pruning and removal stay with your landscaper.
Our Franklin office is in the same county, and Franklin itself is next door — see lawn care in Franklin. Every Brentwood lawn starts with a free evaluation at the property, and you won’t sign a contract.

Lawn care questions in Brentwood
Why does my Brentwood lawn have more weeds every spring?
A lawn that thins over summer leaves bare soil, and henbit, chickweed and crabgrass move into it by the next spring. The cure is a thicker lawn plus a barrier: fall aeration and overseeding to fill the gaps, then pre-emergent in rounds 1 and 2 and post-emergent for the broadleaf weeds that still get through.
Does LawnWise mow lawns or trim trees in Brentwood?
No. LawnWise doesn’t mow, prune, trim or remove trees. The work is treatment: fertilizer and weed control rounds, fall aeration and seeding, preventive fungicide for Brown Patch, tree and shrub feeding and insect protection, and pest, termite and mosquito control. Cutting the grass stays with you or whoever mows it now.
What happens at a free lawn evaluation?
A LawnWise specialist walks the property, looks at the turf, the weeds, the bare spots and any problem areas, and talks with you about what you want from the yard. From that walk you get a recommendation of Basic, Plus or Premier. The evaluation and consultation are free, and nothing is sold before it.
Which LawnWise program suits a large fescue lawn?
Tall fescue thins every summer, so LawnWise Plus or Premier, which add fall core aeration and seeding as round 9, fit it better than Basic alone. Premier also adds a preventive fungicide for Brown Patch from May through July. A specialist recommends one for your lawn after seeing it at the free evaluation.
